About

Juniper Law was founded with a focus on the intersection of business, internet, and IP law, thus making Juniper Law specially tailored to be of value to businesses that sell creative products or services.

Because Juniper Law has thrown out the billable hour, and will quote you a fixed price up front, small business can better budget for and thus afford the legal services they need to protect their business, brand, and products. And because they know we are not looking at the clock every time a client calls, businesses can view Juniper Law as a partner to whom they can turn for advice and help throughout a project, not as a last resort for fear of racking up too much time. This innovative approach to delivering legal services on the client’s terms, rather than the attorney’s, will allow you to work with your attorney, not despite him.

About Ben

My name is Ben Pollock, and I am the owner and founder of The Juniper Law Firm. After growing up in an extended family which yielded at least nine small business owners, I always knew that I wanted to own my own business one day. So early on during my time at the Penn State, Dickinson School of Law, I decided I wanted to open my own law firm that would not only serve small businesses, but that would be my own small business that I had dreamed of owning. From that point on, I spent the last two-thirds of law school focusing all my studies on learning how to best serve small businesses. This meant that I took the classes that gave me the knowledge and the practice necessary to be able to effectively represent small businesses when I opened my firm. I also gained top-tier experience while working during school and summers for The United States Attorney’s Office of the Middle District of Pennsylvania, United States District Judge Christopher Conner, and a regional firm which works primarily with small businesses – Latsha, Davis, and McKenna.

When I was deciding what sector of business owners I wanted to focus on serving, I was looking for a way to serve small businesses that don’t normally get the legal services that larger corporations can afford. After speaking with many small business owners, I discovered that there was a very common factor for why they did not seek legal advice more often: expense. And after questioning further, I discovered that the dread of large legal bills was rooted in a disdain for the billable hour which makes it impossible to predict the cost of legal services beforehand.

Based on this feedback, I developed The Juniper Law Firm to:

  1. Be based completely on fixed prices, so businesses know the cost before they hire me, and
  2. Deliver value which exceeds the client’s costs, because hiring an attorney does not need to be a one-sided transaction, everyone should profit.

Additionally, I decided to serve creative businesses because of my belief that creativity fuels our society. From fine artists to wedding photographers to the guy who just built a prototype in his garage for the next big consumer product. Intellectual property allows people to build off each other’s ideas to help society progress, while providing protection for each person’s contribution. Juniper Law will help small creative-businesses make their contributions by helping them take advantage of the protections the law makes available.
